We believe that age is no barrier to embracing the digital world, staying active, and building meaningful connections. Our senior programmes, including esports and exergaming initiatives, are designed to promote mental agility, physical well-being, and social engagement for seniors. Through innovative and inclusive activities, we aim to tackle loneliness, foster community, and rekindle the ‘kampung spirit’ of togetherness.
Esports and Exergames offers more than just entertainment—it’s a powerful tool for enhancing seniors’ health, cognition, and social engagement. Research highlights that esports can significantly improve mental well-being and reduce loneliness, particularly among senior males, who often face higher rates of social isolation.
For senior males, who may be less likely to engage in traditional social activities, esports and exergames provides a unique platform to connect with peers. The competitive yet collaborative nature of games like Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) encourages teamwork and communication, helping to combat loneliness.
We are proud to offer the Seniors Go! Esports Basic Programme, a National Silver Academy-funded initiative designed to keep seniors mentally active and socially connected through esports.
Programme Overview:
This course introduces seniors to the fundamentals of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) through hands-on sessions. Participants will develop essential gaming skills, such as strategic thinking and coordination, while connecting with like-minded peers in a supportive environment.
Focus on Community and Well-Being:
The workshop fosters collaboration, inclusivity, and competitive play, helping seniors develop valuable soft skills that promote interpersonal bonds and cognitive well-being.
By rekindling the ‘kampung spirit’ of community support and inclusion, this programme ensures seniors feel part of a vibrant, connected community.
Who It’s For:
Seniors looking to stay mentally active, socialize, and explore the digital world in a fun, engaging way.
How much does it cost?
$72/pax after NSA subsidy and eligible for SG/PR 50 years and above.
Exergaming combines the excitement of gaming with physical activity, offering seniors a unique way to stay fit while having fun. At the Esports Academy, our exergaming programs are designed to promote physical health, improve coordination, and boost overall well-being, all while ensuring participants enjoy themselves.
Exergaming involves interactive games that require physical movement, such as dance or sports simulations, which can be adapted to various fitness levels.
Our esports and exergaming sessions are open to seniors looking to combine fun and fitness. Whether you’re dancing to a rhythm game or competing in a virtual sports challenge, you’ll stay active while making new friends.
Our journey to empower seniors through esports began with the support of the Lien Foundation, which played a pivotal role in launching the Seniors Go! Esports initiative. Their funding and vision enabled us to kickstart this programme, bringing the benefits of esports to seniors across Singapore. This partnership laid the foundation for our mission to promote active ageing, social inclusion through gaming and the first senior CS2 team.
A notable highlight was our training session at Sparkle Care Yew Tee, featured in a Channel NewsAsia article. The session showcased how an 85-year-old participant found joy and connection through Counter-Strike 2, demonstrating the transformative power of esports for seniors. This event underscored the potential of our programmes to bring happiness and engagement to even the oldest members of our community.
Together with Bishan Community Club and the Lien Foundation, we proudly launched the Bishan Esports Hub, with SCOGA and the Esports Academy as the program partners. This hub is a dedicated space for seniors to engage in both esports and exergaming to promote physical activity. This hub ensures that seniors have access to state-of-the-art gaming hardware and professional trainers.
The Bishan Esports Hub was introduced as a sequel to the ‘Seniors Go!’ esports programme by non-profit organisation, Lien Foundation. The ‘Seniors Go!’ initiative was designed to provide seniors a fun and safe learning space to challenge themselves as they pick up new activities and hobbies and foster new social connections with fellow like-minded seniors in the process. They benefit from improved mental, physical and social health.
